our youth
We believe that parents are the primary religious educators of their children. By their vocation, they are officially charged with the spiritual care of their child’s formation as Catholics. We believe that our role is to assist parents in this obligation by providing learning materials as well as opportunities for the children to be with their peers for educational and/or service experiences.
To that end, we rely on VIRTUS trained adults to lead those gatherings. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer, and let us know if you are already Virtus-trained or are willing to participate in Virtus training. Information about VIRTUS can be found here (https://richmonddiocese.org/registering-for-an-upcoming-virtus-training-program/) . We are part of the Diocese of Richmond and may be host a training here for our volunteers. Faith Formation registration fees are waived for Catechist volunteers.
Sacraments: We work with families to prepare their children for: First Penance, First Communion, and Confirmation Infant Baptism: This preparation is for families seeking Baptism for their infants or preschool children ages 6 and younger. Please contact: [email protected]
summer programs
Dear Families,
Our colleague at St. Thomas Aquinas, Reed Golomb, sent these opportunities as invitations to the middle schoolers (rising 6 to 8th graders) and high schoolers. Reed's email is [email protected]
For middle schoolers: Epic - EPIC is a one-day diocesan event for middle school youth (rising grades 6-8). This event is intended to be a high-energy day that is focused on two things: (1) building community & friendships with other Catholic middle school youth, and (2) encouraging zeal for our Catholic faith. Throughout the day, youth will experience everything from inflatables to a service project, relay races to Mass. Keynote sessions will highlight the lives of young saints and emphasize the universal call to holiness – every age, including middle school youth, is called to sainthood!
Details can be found here. Date: Saturday, Aug. 9th, 11am -7pm in Richmond.
I attached the required permission slip and there is a fee of $65
